File this under "HE'S GOT HIS."
It's interesting how some of the MOST vocal critics of the "welfare state" have been happily sucking off the government teat for DECADES and will continue to do so until even after they die (generous pension benefits). These two are among the BIGGEST RECIPIENTS of our government's welfare system (taxpayer money).
1.) CA state assemblyman, Jim Nielsen, has been collecting a CA STATE GOVERNMENT PAYCHECK since 1978, and yet he's vehemently opposed to a tax extension in order to keep 30,000 CA teachers form losing their jobs which will create enormous class sizes for our kids...HE'S GOT HIS....over $90k/.year in pay (whether he shows up for votes or not), over $5k/year for a car allowance, a second home in Sacramento he can claim as a tax deduction...and a really really really nice state pension AND his FULL social security benefits (unlike teachers who get penalized for having SS and a state teacher pension).
2.) U.S. Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) is a BIG opponent of what he labels "entitlements" when he's been cashing HIS government paycheck since the day he graduated from college in 1992. HE'S GOT HIS...a VERY generous pensionS (CSRS AND FERS) and medical coverage for HIS dotage, AND social security benefits (unlike teachers who get cheated out of their own contributions), meanwhile, he's dilligently working to "privatize" Medicare and social security (making the elderly vulnerable to private market forces (read: cheating SOBs) like recent housing bubble/derivative scandal), and to eliminate the tax benefit for companies that provide medical insurance for their employees, among other whoppers favoring the wealthy (no capital gains tax).
